Kevin Caffrey's stunning approach to creating photographic art has dazzled visitors to his exhibits at the Romero Britto Gallery in Sao Paulo, Brazil; the prestigious Hilligoss Galleries in Chicago; the internationally acclaimed Art Fusion Gallery in Miami; Gallery 101 in Fort Lauderdale; The Sultan Gallery in Bonita Springs; the HW Gallery in Naples; the Sweet Art Gallery in Naples; and at an exclusive month-long showing at the Esplanade on Marco Island.

Caffrey's passion for still photography is an extension of his love for visual imagery.  Now, rather than communicating on the planes of sight, sound and motion as he did during his award-winning career in television, he creates compelling still images that reflect his unique creative and artistic sensibilities.  He describes his approach to photography this way:

"For me, photography offers an opportunity to capture scenes within scenes, snippets of life that are often dominated by their surroundings and are, therefore, often overlooked. I like to take those scenes and transform them in a way that gives them a sense of value and importance that is all their own.

"My process is similar in many ways to the process used by painters.  They see a subject and envision what it could look like on canvas.   They bring their own interpretation or style to bear and use color, light and texture to bring their vision to life.  By doing so, they create a new and different look at the world for us to step into as we wish.  That look is uniquely theirs.

"As a television director for over 25 years, I composed shots every day.  I see pictures everywhere I go.  When I see something that interests me, I shoot it in a way that at this point comes very naturally.  I don't consciously think about composition or juxtaposition.  I look through the viewfinder and it happens.  Once I have captured the image, my monitor screen becomes my canvas and my mouse becomes my brush.  Like the painter, I use color, light and texture to create a different look at the world that can be stepped into as people wish."
